Annual Cochon de Lait

 

 Saturday, June 11, 2011

6:00 p.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Shady Point, Lake Bistineau

 

The Annual Krewe des Ambassadeurs Cochon de Lait will be held Saturday, June 11, from 6 pm Midnight at Shady Point on Lake Bistineau. The entertainment and food will begin at 6 pm and Extreme Karaoke will be from 8 pm till midnight. Cool & casual attire is recommended, BYOB.

Cost is $25 per person for Non-Krewe Members and for members of the Krewe, it is included in your annual dues. Ambassadeur members must RSVP by phone or e-mail to Karen Ruple at (318)245-6437 or karenruple@yahoo.com. All guests are asked to RSVP by June 3rd by mailing your check to: Krewe des Ambassadeurs, P O Box 2, Minden, LA 71058.

This event is our annual membership drive and we welcome you to join at this time. Our dues are $150 per person and include entrance to the following events: Cochon de Lait, Captain's Party, Christmas Party and the Grand Bal'. Directions to Shady Point: From I-20 take Exit 47 and go South on Hwy 371 to Heflin. Turn Right on Franklin Road go to the 4-way stop at Bistineau Lake Road continue through the 4-way until you reach Shady Point Camp. There will be signs posted.

MINDEN FASCHING KARNEVAL AND PARADE

14^th ANNUAL MINDEN PARADE SLATED FOR FEBRUARY 19, 2011

 Preparations have begun for the 14^th Annual Minden Mardi Gras Parade, the Minden Fasching Karneval and Parade, sponsored by Minden Main Street.  The Minden Fasching Karneval and Parade will be held on Saturday, February 19^th, 2011.  “We have been waiting to celebrate our German Heritage in Minden with a festival, says Pattie Odom, Downtown Development Director  “When we realized that German celebrates their own version of Mardi Gras, Fasching, it made perfect sense to make our Minden Mardi Gras celebration follow the German tradition,” adds Odom.  The Fasching Karneval and Parade is being organized by volunteers from various organizations in the community, Minden Main Street, Minden South Webster Chamber of Commerce, the Krewe des Ambassadeurs and Webster Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau.  We are planning a full day of festival activities beginning at 11AM in downtown Minden with food, fun and great entertainment, culminating with the parade which will begin around dusk at 5:30 that evening. The royalty of Krewe des Ambassadeurs will reign over the festivities.  “The Minden Parade has grown to include over 100 entrants and we are looking for 2011 to be an even better parade, “ says Odom.  Families are encouraged to set up along the route throughout downtown and enjoy the “karneval” until time for the parade.

                Organizations, schools, churches and families also are invited to participate in the parade by preparing floats.  “Parade entrants are asked to pre-register by February 12^th through the Minden Main Street Office,” says Pattie Odom, Downtown Development Director.  Only those entries that register in advance will be permitted in the parade.  Entry forms may be cut from the Minden Press-Herald or can be picked up at City Hall or the Minden South Webster Chamber of Commerce.  Entrants may also register on line at our website, mindenfasching.com.  The entry forms have time, categories and rules included
